Ben-Affleck-and-Jennifer

BEN AFFLECK TO PLAY BATMAN IN MAN OF STEEL SEQUEL
He won every award under the sun in 2013, but it sounds like 2015 will be Ben Affleck‘s most super year of all. Warner Bros. has confirmed that the Oscar-winning Argo director will play Batman in the highly anticipated sequel to this year’s Man of Steel. This film marks the first time ever that Batman and Superman will have appeared together onscreen. The 41-year-old Affleck has played superheroes twice before: he depicted Daredevil in Marvel’s 2003 film of the same name, and starred as former Superman actor George Reeve in 2006’s Hollywoodland. The film’s anticipated opening date is July 17, 2015.

Jennifer-Lopez

JENNIFER LOPEZ TO RETURN AS ‘AMERICAN IDOL’ JUDGE
Lopez‘s return to “American Idol” has been confirmed by a reliable source: her boyfriend. The 44-year-old entertainer’s longtime love Casper Smart revealed the happy news that she’ll be back as a judge on Fox’s popular star-marking singing competition show after taking a year-long hiatus. When asked if she’d be back, Smart simply responded, “yes”. The only snafu: the news hadn’t officially been released yet. She will be joined on the judging panel by returnee Keith Urban and newcomer Harry Connick Jr.; Randy Jackson will also return to the show as an in-house mentor.

ANGELINA-JOLIE

ANGELINA JOLIE NAMED HIGHEST-PAID ACTRESS IN HOLLYWOOD
Angelina Jolie is officially still the reigning queen of the Hollywood box office. The 38-year-old actress tops Tinseltown’s highest paid actresses list, raking in an estimated $33 million per picture. Although her last film (2010’s The Tourist) underperformed, Jolie has never failed to make headlines, whether it be for her relationship with Brad Pitt, her charity work or most recently, her double mastectomy. Next up, the beautiful Jolie will play the bad gal in Maleficent, a fresh take on the story of “Sleeping Beauty”, she’ll direct her second feature, Unbroken, and she’ll reprise her role as CIA agent Evelyn Salt in the highly anticipated Salt sequel.

Elon-Musk

ELON MUSK UNVEILS HYPERLOOP PROPOSAL
Elon Musk promised that he would announce plans for his groundbreaking “Hyperloop” on August 12 and he has made good on his word. The Tesla and SpaceX founder revealed his 57-page online proposal for the new technology, which promises travelers between Los Angeles and San Francisco a mere 35-minute commute. In his “Alpha” proposal, the 36-year-old writes: “Short of figuring out real teleportation, which would of course be awesome (someone please do this), the only option for super-fast travel is to build a tube over or under the ground that contains a special environment.” The proposed pods would carry 28 passengers at a time and cost roughly $20 per trip.

JEFFERY-DEITCH-

JEFFERY DEITCH STEPS DOWN AS DIRECTOR OF MOCA
After much speculation, it has finally been announced that Jeffrey Deitch will leave his post as Director of MOCA. Though he was only three years into his five-year contract, Deitch revealed that he’d be stepping down during a board meeting on July 24. He vowed that he “will stay on to ensure a smooth transition and the successful completion” of a campaign that began back in March to boost MOCA’s endowment to $100 million. An executive search committee has been formed to appoint a new director, to be helmed by co-chairs Maria Bell and David Johnson, as well as Joel Wachs.
