This December, ring in the holiday season with Jay Z! The hip-hop mogul is teaming up with Barmeys New York—and several of its haute designers—to create a limited-edition Christmas collection entitled “A New York Holiday.”
“With this project, Barneys New York and I were able to take the slickness, energy and innovation of New York City and translate that into quality, timeless pieces,” the musician told Women’s Wear Daily.
Balenciaga, Balmain, Proenza Schouler, Rick Owens and Moncler all worked with Jay Z on custom creations, including a supple black leather backpack, sleek black raincoat with gold buttons and an 18-karat-gold double ring. “Everything that encompasses ‘A New York Holiday’ — the items chosen, the amazing designers that participated, the windows, the design of the BNY SCC Gallery — represents a perfect example of a unique and groundbreaking collaboration that I hope demonstrates how inspiring New York has been to me,” he explained.
Jay Z’s fashion stylists will hit shelves on Nov. 20 at the company’s flagship locations in New York, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago. Twenty-five percent of all sales from the project will benefit the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
