1 Tar & Roses

Tar & Roses is one of best new restaurants to hit Santa Monica, as much for its organic meat dishes as is it its gorgeous decor. Andrew Kirschner's latest establishment boasts delicacies like chimichurri-topped hanger steak sourced from Boulder Valley Natural Farm, a place where hormones are simply forbidden, and locally-sourced veggie dishes like wood fired summer squash.(where antibiotics and hormones are forbidden).

2 M Cafe de Chaya

For amazing contemporary macrobiotic cuisine in a haute European setting, head to M Cafe de Chaya in Beverly Hills. Fresh, healthy ingredients like tofu and tempeh have never tasted so good when paired with dressings of tahini-soy yogurt dressing and spicy yuzu mayo. For those outside of the 90210, there is also a second sister location on Melrose in West Hollywood.

3 Lyfe Kitchen

Lyfe Kitchen originated in earthy crunchy Palo Alto before hitting Culver City this year, and we couldn't be happier for the import. The restaurant not only supports sustainability and giving back to the environment, but gives its business to local organic farms. Many options are not only organic, but gluten-free and vegan as well. We love the quinoa crunchy wrap and crispy gardein chicken sandwich with shisito pepper relish and vegan spicy mayo. Lyfe technically means "Love Your Food Everyday" -- which you will here.

4 Mohawk Bend

We love Mohawk Bend as much for its vegan/veggie/organic menu as we do its cool setting. The ingredients used are 100% California grown, and as the restaurant itself notes, whenever possible its ingredients are "organic, craft-made & locally sourced." That would include its Historic Ramona pizza, a special for the month of August in a nod to its former vaudeville theater roots; $4 from each pizza sold will benefit the Echo Park Historical Society.

5 Inn of the Seventh Ray

Organic food lovers who want a truly romantic evening should head to Topanga Canyon for a locally-sourced meal at the stunning Inn of the Seventh Ray. The Inn, which now resides on the site of Topanga's first church, boasts organically grown food and grains, with as many as possible from local farms. The eatery's chickens are naturally raised and range fed, and only natural meats without antibiotics or force fed hormones are served. Even wines from organically grown grapes are served. How's that for attention to detail? Our bottom line: this is one restaurant that you'll fall in love with (and perhaps fall in love at as well).
