JEFFREY SOFFER MARRIES ELLE MACPHERSON IN FIJI
Aussie supermodel Elle Macpherson and Turnberry Associates CEO Jeffrey Soffer tied the knot in August on the Pacific Island of Fiji. The couple has been engaged since March of this year, when Soffer bestowed a stunning emerald cut diamond engagement ring on the Fashion Star’s finger. The two have been together for over three years, despite a break in 2012. The couple was reunited following Soffer’s survival of a helicopter crash. The wedding managed to stay largely off the radar and was attended by close friends and family.

ROBERT WENNETT’S ACE TEAM WINS MB CONVENTION CENTER BID
Miami Beach City Commission has picked the South Beach ACE team to revamp its convention center. ACE is comprised of an all-star team of architects and developers such as Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, landscape architect Raymond Jungles, Dan Tishman, who has worked on a slew of huge projects including the Javits Center and the InterContinental in Times Square and the hip local developer responsible for 1111 Lincoln, Robert Wennett. While the plans are now proposed to be scaled down from what was originally shown, it is still one of the largest, and most closely watched urban redevelopment projects in the country. The project will have a final green light when the citizens of Miami Beach hopefully vote in its favor in November. The transformative project takes the old convention center and its oceans of pavement and turns it into compelling green space, a hotel, residential units, and a sparkling new convention center which has already drawn interest from high-end conventions that the old center was not attracting.

JORGE PEREZ DONATES CUBAN ART COLLECTION TO FIU
FIU’s School of International Public Affairs has something to smile about. In another grand gesture of art-related philanthropy, both Jorge Perez and wife Darlene recently donated their extensive collection of Cuban Art to the university. The collection, which is estimated at about $315, 000, is also paired with an additional contribution of $250,000.
Their kind endowment to FIU stems from Perez being an alum of the university, who recently said: “We are excited to be able to share with students, faculty, and the South Florida community the importance of art throughout Cuban history.” The collection, which includes works from artists such as Eduardo Albera, and Jose Bedia, will be available for public exhibition on October 16th.
