COMO Hotels, famous for their uberluxe, understated properties like Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos and The Halkin in London, is readying a mid-beach property called Metropolitan on Collins Avenue to open in December. The property is in an eight-story former Art Deco hotel called The Treymore, and despite a complete to-the-guts renovation, will be keeping a number of charming Art Deco details, including the original terrazzo floors. Famed Italian interior designer Paola Navone is imagining the decor, which will be awash in green and other soothing tones. After all, COMO Hotels and Resorts are know for a good night’s sleep and wellness programs. “COMO has been doing wellness for 22 years,” says General Manager Javier Beneyto. “It starts with the food – we have a signature cuisine which is COMO Shambhala, which is focused on how the ingredients mix, and the plates come alive.”

The hotel’s mantra is about spirit, mind and body. A 20 meter lap pool, a hydrotherapy pool on the roof, gym, juice bar and complete spa speak to that ethos. And sleep. Nothing at the COMO will interfere with a guests good nights rest, or their experience on property. Metropolitan will be the perfect place for a moneyed, under-the-radar guest that wants the finest luxury without all the noise.
