Haute 100 LA Update: Ben Affleck to Play Batman in ‘Man of Steel’ Sequel

US-ENTERTAINMENT-FILM-OSCARSHe won every award under the sun in 2013, but it sounds like 2015 will really be Ben Affleck‘s most super year of all.

It was announced this week that the Oscar-winning Argo director would play Batman in the highly anticipated sequel to this year’s Man of Steel.

This film marks the first time ever that Batman and Superman will have appeared together onscreen.

Henry Cavill will be back at Superman in the Warner Bros. pic, while Steel director Zack Snyder is slated to direct.
The 41-year-old Affleck has played superheroes twice before: he depicted Daredevil in Marvel’s 2003 film of the same name, and starred as George Reeves, who starred in the 1950’s series “Adventures of Superman”, in 2006’s Hollywoodland.

The film’s anticipated opening date is July 17, 2015.
