Aspen isn’t really a diner sort of town, but when it comes to craving a burger and shake there are several options that disguise themselves in the diner category pretty well.
1 Boogie's Diner
Named after Boogie Wineglass, this iconic '50s-style diner sits above a retail store stocked with blue jeans and hip clothes. At the restaurant counter, diners can choose between an assortment of homemade pies, malts and shakes, and the multi-page menu serves everything from mozzarella sticks to chili.
2 Aspen Over Easy
Breakfast until 3 p.m. and fresh-squeezed orange juice made at the counter are just a few of the touches that make Aspen Over Easy a "diner" stop. Though it's not open late, the menu reflects typical diner food, including breakfast burritos, French toast and hearty burgers. Here, no one leaves hungry.
3 Red Rock Diner
Even though it's a 30-minute drive from Aspen, the soda fountain, shakes and retro feel are worth the journey. This family-owned establishment has a loyal following in the Roaring Fork Valley, with customers returning for traditional American breakfasts and coming back again for a variety of sandwich and burger options for lunch.
4 CP Burger
Though it's not a traditional diner, if it's shakes, burgers and tater tots that you're after then CP Burger serves it up right. Creative twists like an ahi burger with kale or sweet potato fries spice up the dining experience, and adults can spike their shakes with bourbon and vodka. During the winter, the ice skating rink outside offers entertainment.
