Aspen is a playground for celebrities, and when it comes to celebrity chefs, it turns out it’s not hard to a find a few of those either.
1 Chefs Club
If there's a restaurant that epitomizes celebrity chefs, the Chefs Club in the St. Regis Aspen is it. This is Food & Wine's concept restaurant featuring the magazine's annual array of Best New Chefs to curate the menu. And, if you hit it at the right time of year, they'll be manning (or womanning) the kitchen too. The idea has been so popular in Aspen that the brand recently announced it would open a New York satellite.
2 Matsuhisa Aspen
Named after the famed Nobu, this Aspen outpost of the celebrated sushi restaurant group generally welcomes its leader around the holidays. The Japanese proprietor has been named Outstanding Chef by the James Beard Foundation several years in a row. And while the menus represent his native country, there's South American inspiration that makes them a worldly affair.
3 Eight K
The Viceroy Snowmass may be a contemporary alpine resort, but its menu clearly reflects Southern culinary tastes. That's because Louisianan Will Nolan is at the helm. Last year, he gave peers a run for their money when nominated for Food & Wine's Peoples Choice Award for Best New Chef. Signature dishes like BBQ wild Sonora shrimp and grits served with soft poached egg or pan roasted Jidori chicken breast with garlic sausage, creamy polenta bring some of New Orleans to the mountains.
