It was a “creative black tie” cocktail affair for the San Francisco Symphony’s Inaugural Spring Gala. From the hip to the formal, a laid-back spring vibe buzzed through City Hall during the colorful wonderland that was the Spring Gala.

The evening began with pre-concert cocktails (spring-a-fied blue and green cocktails), sparkling wine and dinner at City Hall.

Then, onto the highlight of the evening: Ms. Janelle Monae at Davies Symphony Hall.  Her performance with the SF Symphony was so rare and beautiful; the symphonic sounds beautifully complimented the angelic voices of the genre-bending Monae and her small but mighty back-up tribe. The Grammy-nominated artist and lit up the stage with her signature twirls, whirls and tuxedo-clad style.

Finally, the after-party sealed the deal for those wanting more. Desserts, cocktails, dancing, and yes, Ms. Monae.  A very special group of VIP after-party pass holders had the privilege of enjoying a second performance from the magnetic Monae and crew.

The Spring Gala benefitted the SF Symphony’s education programs, which annually reach over 75,000 Bay Area children.
