Colorado may be land-locked, but that doesn’t stop the restaurants in Aspen from serving up some of the best seafood between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

1 Pacifica Seafood and Raw Bar

Aspen's only dedicated seafood restaurant lives up to its name. A full oyster bar samples from both coasts, and the raw bar includes salmon crudo and ahi tuna tartare. For the main course, try the scallops a la plancha with black mushroom paella, manchego, and crisp jamon. If you're in the mood to share, the grand caviar plateau, for $268, will suffice. 307 S Mill St Aspen, CO 81611 (970) 920-9775

2 Matsuhisa Aspen

Nobu's restaurants may be touted for sushi and sashimi, but all of the seafood at Matsuhisa Aspen truly shines. Start with an uni shooter, followed by the soft shell crab with black bean sauce for a pre-entree tease. Dine on the salmon filet with wasabi pepper or teriyaki sauce, and you'll have left without thinking once about a tempura or sushi plate. 303 E Main St Aspen, CO 81611 (970) 544-6628

3 Kenichi Aspen

With outposts in Austin, Dallas and Kona, the Kenichi restaurant family has achieved national stature for its sushi and seafood. In Aspen, the bar area is always packed with a hip crowd, and in the dining room--which is separated by an illuminated blue wine wall--trendy eaters enjoy Skuna Bay cedar-grilled salmon and stuffed blue crab. Don't skip the extensive sake menu. 533 E Hopkins Ave #2 Aspen, CO 81611 (970) 920-2212

4 Takah Sushi

Combining Asian and Japanese cuisines, Takah Sushi is an underground favorite. Located in a downstairs locale on the Hyman Avenue mall, this cozy restaurant has a big tempura and sushi list, which is equally complemented by its small plates and seafood entrees. With a rotating "Nightly Fish Special," there's always a creative twist for adventurous diners; traditionalists can stick to the grilled salmon with vegetables. 320 S Mill St Aspen, Colorado 81611 (970) 925-8588

5 Jimmy's An American Bar & Restaurant

Though Jimmy's has garnered a great rep for its steak and mezcal, the Rocky Mountain trout and shellfish choices are crowd-pleasers. For something a little messier, the cioppino--with fish, mussels, and shrimp--is worth the hazard to your dinner clothes. Then, stay for the craftily curated tequila and mezcal menu. 205 S Mill St #2 Aspen, CO 81611 (970) 925-6020
