Lights, Camera, Action!  The stars shined at the 12th Annual North Beach Citizens Spring Fundraiser, an Italian Dinner Celebration.

The red carpet was the scene of the arrival of a crowd of 440 who filled the courtyard and kitchen of Saints Peter and Paul Church for Francis Ford Coppola’s finest wines before rushing to their tables in the church basement.  The philanthropic celebration brought the likes of none other than Francis Ford Coppola and Eleanor Coppola, filmmaker George Lucas, and fiancé and President of Arial Investments, Mellody Hobson; Tina and John Keker; North Beach bard Lawrence Ferlinghetti; Steve Silver’s Beach Blanket Babylon Producer, Jo Schuman Silver; San Francisco Film Society’s new executive director, Ted Hope and filmmaker wife, Vanessa Hope; SF Director of HOPE, Bevan Dufty; Supervisors David Chiu and Scott Wiener.

The party was in full swing with fabulous food from caterer, Tasha DeSerio and great wines from Francis Ford Coppola and Hess Winery. Then all eyes went to the stage where Steve Silver’s Beach Blanket Babylon performed a fun medley with special lyrics celebrating poet laureate, Lawrence Ferlinghetti.  Lawrence was an honorary co-host of the event with Jeannette Etheredge.

North Beach Citizens is a local non-profit for homeless and low-income citizens, funded with private donations. The Italian Dinner Celebration raises more than 60% of all of the funds that are used to provide individualized services to homeless and low-income clients.
