5 Haute Places to be on Cinco De Mayo

Cinco de Mayo falls on a weekend this year!  That means that there’s no excuse not to live up every moment, enjoy the sun, and celebrate Cinco De Mayo in style. Whether you’re sipping on a margarita at a swanky haute spot or joining in a weekend poolside party, here are five haute places to be this Cinco de Mayo.

Hakkasan

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo this weekend in style at Hakkasan San Francisco by enjoying the Birds Eye Margarita. Hakkasan’s central bar offers a stylish and contemporary setting, a perfect venue for enjoying an aperitif before dining in the restaurant, or for luxuriating for the evening to enjoy its bustling nocturnal activity. Birds Eye Margarita  = 1.5 oz Vida Mezcal (infused with birds eye chili) + .75 oz Pierre Ferrand dry curacao + .75 oz fresh lime juice + .5 oz fresh pineapple juice + .5 oz agave nectar + 4 drops creole bitters.

CopitaCopita Tequileria y Comida, created by Joanne Weir and Larry Mindel, will be celebrating Mexican heritage and culture all weekend long. You can’t go wrong with modern Mexican cuisine inspired by Chef Gonzalo Rivera’s travels all throughout the country and a bar menu featuring a curated list of over eighty premium 100% blue agave tequilas as well as mezcales and tequila cocktails.  Guests can also sample different flights to explore the nuances of blanco, reposado, and añejo tequilas. Local and Mexican beers will be served on tap and by the bottle. Non-alcoholic drinks include traditional agua frescas and seasonal 100% natural sodas, both made in-house.  Some eye candy will kick things off – Copita is working with artist Karen Slovak to create a chalk mural all along the sidewalk of the restaurant to start the festivities.

Stop by Michael Mina this weekend for a fun twist on a classic Cinco de Mayo Cocktail.  Bar star Jennifer Russick has created the Shiso Leaf Margarita: 1.5 oz tequila + .5 oz mezcal + .5 oz agave + 1 oz lemon juice + .5 oz gran classico + 2 shiso leaves.

Steins

Get the weekend celebration going early at Steins for Cinco de Mayo! Enjoy $5 Margaritas and $5 Sangria’s in the restaurant or in the beautiful beer garden. Guests are encouraged to wear sombreros and festive Mexican attire.  The drink specials are available from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday, May 5th.
