Last week, Olivier Rousteing, the Paris-based creative director for French fashion house Balmain, hosted an intimate poolside, fashion-forward dinner at Hollywood’s renowned Chateau Marmont.

The 26-year-old creative director, who replaced Christophe Decarnin in 2011, welcomed models Liberty Ross and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, among others, who showed up wearing Balmain skirts and dresses. Nicole Richie was also seen in a Balmain dress that features an “intricate basket-weave design”, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The event was held in honor of Rousteing’s first visit to Los Angeles, which included stops in Venice Beach and Bel Air.

“I love the soul of L.A., It’s something that you don’t come here, you can’t understand. I love the mix of art, history, nationalities. It’s something you’re not expecting,” Rousteing said, “The mix of generations, attitudes and nationalities is amazing. And everyone is so positive.”

Guests at the Chateau Marmont included stylists Tara Swennen, George Kostiopoulis, Lawren Howell and Estee Stanley, designers Aurelie Bidermann, Andrea Lieberman and John Eshaya, among others.
