The hautest ticket in town over the weekend was an evening that drew every serious art lover and foodie in Los Angeles.
The at-capacity crowd flocked to West Hollywood’s Factory West to attend Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project, which challenged 20 handpicked local and emerging artists to transform a blank canvas-wrapped Red Bull cooler into an inspired work of art.
The artists were paired with venue owners from some of the hottest local bars, lounges and restaurants in the city; the the custom pieces created will now be housed in said chosen venues.
The artists’ work was voted on by a panel of judges including City of West Hollywood Councilmember and former Mayor John Heilman, Holly Harrison, the Curatorial Administrator of Contemporary Art at LACMA, and Marsea Goldberg, the owner of New Image Art Gallery.
The other 16 local artists that created artwork for Red Bull Curates included 2WENTY, AJL, Allison Hueman Torneros, Blinky Óne, Dan Monteavaro, Jill Knox, Look At, Man One, Mear One, Rose Masterpol, Sand One, SEK, SEPTERHED, TaylorSays, Teebs and Vyal One.
The venues in which each piece of art will be featured include Brent Bolthouse’s The Bungalow, Viceroy Hotel, The Viper Room, Rock & Reilly’s, Pink Taco Sunset Strip, Brick+Mortar, The Craftsman, Barcopa, Akbar, La Cita, The Association, Salvage, Crocker Club, The Federal, KCRW Radio Station, Ameoba Music, The Well and Mack Sennett Studios.
