On April 25 the first Madonna fashion pop-up exhibition was unveiled at Macy’s Century City on Santa Monica Boulevard. The event was a never-before seen retrospective of the Material Girl’s iconic fashion pieces, including eight iconic looks hand-picked by Madonna herself.

Fashion and music fans lined up waiting to see the big unveiling of Madonna’s day exhibit at Macy’s, which was coined “the first-ever pop-up of the pop star’s archival collection,” according to LA Racked. In addition to providing a glimpse into the evolution of her style over the years, the exhibit also included models wearing Madonna’s Material Girl clothing line, which she designs with her 16-year-old daughter, Lola.

A vintage photo of Madonna wearing the ensemble accompanied all of the iconic looks. The exhibit included a beaded Christian Lacroix corset, the “Like a Virgin” wedding dress, and the Jean Paul Gaultier corsets.

Madonna told WWD, “The pop-up exhibit at Macy’s perfectly exemplifies the inspiration and spirit of the Material Girl line and will give my fans a great opportunity to see the evolution of my style over the years.”

Madonna’s longtime costume designer and stylist Arianne Phillips curated the exhibit, and said of the Material Girl line, “It’s so great that girls can buy clothes that are inspired by such a great time in Madonna’s career, but then they’re getting Lola’s eye. It’s fantastic.”
