Update: Big news coming from the National Restaurant Show 2013 offices. The chairman, president and chief executive officer of Starbucks, Howard Schultz, will be on hand Sunday May 19th, 2013 between 3 and 4 PM to deliver a special keynote presentation. Schultz has grown his company from only 4 to more than 18,000 stores in 62 countries. So he’s the perfect person to speak on how to transform a company, which will be the main point of his speech, which will also include the fragile balance between profit and social conscience. This is a pretty cool treat for attendees of the NRA Show 2013. The original post with some of the other highlights of the show can be found below, as well as how you can register for this event.

The hottest celebrity chefs on TV will be in Chicago for the World Culinary Showcase at The National Restaurant Association Show 2013. The NRA Show 2013 will take place at the McCormick Place May 18 -11, 2013. The chefs will take center stage and show off their expertise live at the World Culinary Showcase. Celebrity Chefs from across the country will be on hand, including Iron Chef Cat Cora, Chopped judges Maneet Chauhan, Marcus Samuelsson, and Marc Murphy. And taking center stage at this year’s NRA Show is none other than Anthony Bourdain. The infamous chef, author and TV personality will host the third annual Restaurants Rock Industry celebration on Sunday, May 19th and have a book signing the following day. These chefs are great, but you know there had to be some Chicago flavor.

Top Chef Masters winner and Chicago restaurateur Rick Bayless will be on hand. Chef Bayless is a recipient of multiple James Beard Foundation awards, author of many cookbooks and chef/owner of Chicago’s Frontera, Xoco and Topolobampo. Chef and owner of moto and iNG restaurants, Homaro Cantu, will also make an appearance. His flavor-changing restaurant has earned enormous praise, with Diane Sayer recently describing it as “something that will change the world of gastronomy forever.” Besides the demonstrations, many chefs will be signing books and talking with attendees of the event.
