1 Urasawa

Urasawa has a pretty tough pedigree to beat: not only has it been rated the second most expensive restaurant in America (only ranked lower than NYC's Masa), it has some of the best sushi you'll find anywhere in the world. Chef Hiro Urasawa prepares the dishes he wishes to serve in a minimalist space, letting his food become the focus of the evening. The average bill at Urasawa is said to be $1,111, and the nearly 30-course Omakase menu is constantly evolving. Additionally, there are only ten seats in the small space, located on Rodeo Drive, which all keeps the restaurant as VIP as possible.

2 Providence

Providence has two Michelin stars and is a James Beard nominee for a reason: it has some of the best seafood in LA. Chef Michael Cimarusti is an expert at perfectly preparing his dishes and pairing dishes such as wild monkfish, sea bass and uni with truly excellent wines in a seriously elegant setting.

3 Melisse

Melisse, like Urasawa, has been named one of the most expensive restaurants in America, but the hefty price is absolutely worth it. Chef Josiah Citrin creates awe-inspiring French dishes at this two Michelin star award-winning restaurant located in picturesque Santa Monica. For a truly private experience, book the Olivia and Augustin rooms, where you can drink your Château d’Yquem in peace and quiet.

4 Studio at Montage Laguna Beach

Studio, the Montage Laguna Beach's stunning restaurant by the sea, is a Forbes 5-star pick for many reasons. Among those are its absolutely breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, its modern French cuisine with California touches and its epic wine list of nearly 2,500 labels. Go at sunset and order a bottle of R. Lopez de Heredia, Vi ñ a Bosconia's 1947 Gran Reserva along with a meal of beef tenderloin. You can thank us later.

5 Osteria Mozza

Count yourself lucky if you're actually able to get a reservation at Nancy Silverton, Mario Batali and Joseph Bastianich's impeccable Italian eatery, Osteria Mozza. Everyone from billionaires to the biggest celebrity stars count this Melrose Avenue restaurant among their favorite dining experiences in LA, thanks to its amazing mozzarella bar, mammoth wine list and opulent interior.
