Allow me to go into full infomercial mode in telling you about this dinner event. Do you love cooking? Do you love incorporating new ideas and techniques into your meals? If you answered yes then Mercadito’s (108 West Kinzie) Spring Awakening Cooking Demonstration might be right for you. On March 26 at 6:30pm, Chef Patricio Sandoval will be teaching guests of the event how to incorporate Spring produce into a couple new seasonal dishes. “We are really embracing the Spring season this year,” Sandoval says. “Like most chefs in the city, I’m excited to start introducing the first of seasonal ingredients, such as ramps, rhubarb, and fava beans, but we are also introducing some new menu items that our guests haven’t seen before.”

The chef will be teaching guests how to make the new menu Mexican Meatballs, chipotle albondigas with corn polenta and epazote breadcrumbs. There will also be shareable skewers on the menu at the demonstration. The chef will also unveil a couple Spring-inspired items such as Langosta Tacos with lemon-poached lobster and explore the use of fresh fruit to create Primavera Guacamole. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, there will be five courses with cocktail pairings for you to enjoy at the dinner event. For only $55 a person, you can be there to take part in all Chef Sandoval has planned. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 312-329-9555. And if you can’t make it on the 26th, there will be another demo on March 27th, same time and place.
