There’s no need to wait until “The Great Gatsby” hits theaters this May to experience life in the Roaring ’20s. The Plaza Hotel in Manhattan is offering period-inspired affairs throughout the spring in honor of its role in Baz Luhrmann‘s new film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald‘s classic novel.
In tribute to the great American author, a new luxury accommodation called “The Fitzgerald Suite” will be added to the historic New York hotel beginning on April 22. The 900-square-foot space on the hotel’s 18th floor will channel the dynamism of the Jazz Age with authentic decor, plus photos of the 2013 film featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan. The suite will also feature images of Fitzgerald and his wife as well as the author’s complete works. Reservations will be accepted as of April 22nd.
The flavors and fads of the 1920s will also be on available throughout The Plaza’s lounges and restaurants. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, visitors can experience “Gatsby Hour” at The Rose Club and sip prohibition-inspired cocktails from an engraved, discreet Plaza flask, while listening to live jazz music. On weekends, fans can swing by the Todd English Food Hall to indulge in classic brunch dishes popular in the 1920s. “Fitzgerald Tea for the Ages” at The Palm Court will also Gatsby-inspired dishes like deviled quail egg salad, curried lobster salad, banana financier and chocolate bonbons.
