The Ace Hotel will open in its first Los Angeles branch this fall in the historic United Artists building in downtown. The hip boutique hotel recently announced the scheduled opening on their Twitter page and be located in a landmark building built in 1927 that used to function as offices and a theater for a film studio.

According to LAist, a year after rumors began to swirl that the boutique hotel group had plans to open a downtown location, the confirmation finally came when their Twitter page suddenly included “Opening in Downtown Los Angeles in fall 2013.”

The building where the hotel will be located features a theater and tower that “stand as monuments to a group of seminal American artists pushing out on their own – driven by the need for creative control,” according to Ace Hotel Group’s website.

Established in 1999, Ace Hotel Group is headquartered in Portland, OR, and New York with current properties located in New York, Palm Springs, Portland and Seattle. They currently have approximately 500 rooms in operation. At each location, the hotel firm “have brought new life to challenged historical properties in emerging locations, and [they] approach each renovation individually and sustainably and always with open ears.” Their properties are “inspired by an affinity for the soulful and fueled by localized and handmade culture”
