There are few things more satisfying after a long, hard day on the ski hill than a fresh pizza and a cold beer. Fortunately, in Aspen, there are options. From the late-night pizza joint to the upper-crust restaurant with gourmet flatbread, it’s guaranteed that no one will leave hungry.
1 Limelight Hotel
It may be surprising to find some of the town's best pizza in a lobby, the Limelight Hotel serves up just that. Ten-inch, hand-tossed, wood-fired pizza like the house fennel sausage or the kale with lemon ricotta and mozzarella are perfect after a day on the ski hill. Pair it with a draft beer during happy hour, 3-7 p.m. and you've got a meal.
2 New York Pizza
For big slices of New York-style pizza, all paths lead to NYP. Located on the Hyman St. pedestrian mall, this upstairs pizza joint is known for cheesy slices, a friendly face behind the register and a line 'til 2 a.m. as it's the only stop for food once the bars close.
Though many come for the pasta, this restaurant's thin-crust wood-fired pizzas are a palate-pleaser too. Prosciutto with truffle oil, mushrooms and arugula is a popular choice, and the julienned veggies with spinach and pesto is sure bet. Sit at the bar to watch your dinner being made.
With more than 15 kinds of specialty pizza, Brunelleschi's has something for everyone at the table. From meat lover's and BBQ chicken to a white sauce or jalapeno-topped pie, the pizzas here are hearty and the family atmosphere is heartwarming.
5 Taster's Pizza
This pizza joint was so popular in Snowmass that it opened a second location in Aspen. Slices and full pizzas can be delivered or taken on-the-go, and if you're in the mood to wander from tradition try one of Taster's hot subs for a change.
