Runway Review: Prabal Gurung Fall 2013

Hot on the heels of his love-themed collection for Target, Prabal Gurung got serious this week at NYFW. The designer’s Fall 2013 collection featured military-inspired daytime looks for the downtown cool girl, and the beautiful dresses that have made Gurung a red-carpet favorite.

Perfectly tailored trousers complemented structured jackets with nipped waists, peplums in thick wool, fur collars, and leather harnesses. From the more ready-to-wear pieces to the dresses, feminine detailing reigned supreme. Long-sleeve gowns of draped silk were accented by adjustable army-style harnesses, while long, fluid dresses with sharp cut-outs were nothing short of bombshell gorgeous. Intricate brocade needlework, bohemian patterns and splashes of bold red complemented the otherwise military-issue palette of olive, navy, black, and white.
