ALICIA KEYS JOINS BLACKBERRY AS GLOBAL CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Move over iPhone and Android, Alicia Keys is team BlackBerry! The R&B superstar was just named the Global Creative Director of the Canadian technology company.
“I was in a long-term relationship with BlackBerry and I started to notice some new hotter devices at the gym,” Keys admitted during the BlackBerry 10 launch in New York. “So I broke up with you for a while. I missed the way you organized my life, so I carried two phones and played the field a bit. But then you gave me a call, told me you’d been working out. Now I’m happy to announce we’re exclusively dating again!”
Keys promised to work closely with app developers, retailers and content creators to promote the product in her new role. “I want to further enhance this concept of having your work life and your personal life in one device,” she continued. The 14-time Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter also plans to use the device to shoot music videos during tour stops that “capture sights, sounds, and fans of every city that I visit.”

MARC JACOBS SIGNS ON AS CREATIVE DIRECTOR FOR DIET COKE
As the new creative director for Diet Coke, fashion designer Marc Jacobs created a series of “whimsical, feminine” packaging for the soft-drink giant to celebrate its 30th anniversary in Europe. “We wanted it to be colorful and fun,” he explained.
Jacobs’s creations consist of three cans, three bottles and three ad campaigns that represent three eras in fashion and women’s empowerment: the ’80s, ’90s and ’00s. The designer said he also altered the Diet Coke logo. The first advertisement shows Jacobs posing without a shirt, playfully opening an exploding can of Diet Coke.
“I still think it’s hysterical people want me to take my shirt off. You know, I’m going to be 50 in two months, so I guess I should be glad,” he revealed. “It feels like the decade of me taking my shirt off.”
BILL CLINTON NAMED FATHER OF THE YEAR
Former President Bill Clinton was named “Father of the Year” by The National Father’s Day Council, a not-for-profit organization that celebrates the observance of Father’s Day and Mother’s Day.
“With the profound generosity, leadership and tireless dedication to both his public office and many philanthropic organizations, President Clinton exemplifies the attributes that we celebrate through the Father of the Year award,” said Dan Orwig, chairman of the National Father’s Day Committee. Clinton has always been close with his daughter Chelsea. While preparing for her 2010 wedding to Marc Mezvinsky, the 42nd President said that walking Chelsea down the aisle was “the most important job I’ll ever have.”

Mayor Michael Bloomberg may have stepped foot on the campus of Johns Hopkins University as a shy, C-student from Medford, Massachusetts, but he left four years later with an A average and a lust for leadership. During his senior year, Bloomberg served as the president of his fraternity, his senior class and the council overseeing Greek life and self-admittedly became “an all-around big man on campus.”
To show his appreciation, Bloomberg recently made a $350 million gift to his alma mater — by far the largest in the institution’s history. But that’s just the tip of the Mayor’s generosity. Over the past four decades, Bloomberg has donated $1.1 billion, making him the most generous living donor to any educational institution in the United States. The Mayor said that it was at Johns Hopkins where he escaped the crushing boredom of his high school and discovered an urban campus of stately Georgian buildings brimming with new people and ideas. “I just thought I’d died and gone to heaven,” he explained. “If I had been the son of academics maybe I would have been on campuses and would never have been as impressed as I was when I was here, because it’s the first time I really was walking among people who were world leaders, who were creating, inventing.”

Artist Julian Schnabel is gearing up for a new chapter in his life: fatherhood. The 61-year-old artist and his supermodel fiance May Andersen are expecting their first child. The couple began dating last April after meeting through Schnabel’s son, Vito. Anderson, 30, posed for Playboy the following month. The couple announced their engagement in November.
