Katy Perry and John Mayer Look Loved Up at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Bash

It seems that the night before music’s biggest night lived up to its name, with power couple Katy Perry and John Mayer showing their love at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala and Salute to Industry Icons in Beverly Hills on Feb. 9. Despite, speculation to two are very much together.

They first started dating last summer, after Katy Perry finalized her divorce from Russell Brand only months earlier. The two showed up at the pre-Grammy bash as strong as ever with matching white outfits. Mayer even admits in a recent interview with Rolling Stone that, “I mean, I’m quite happy. I’m happy in all aspects of my life. I’m very happy in all aspects in all aspects of my life.”

As for the remainder of “the most important date on any of our calendars,” according to the Beverly Hilton Hotel, CBS Corp. CEO Les Moonves, the night went quite smoothly as Clive Davis hosted the dinner show. Every year, this special night has showcased some of the most talented performers ever like, Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, Jennifer Hudson and Carlos Santana to this audience in the early part of their careers.

The night kicked off with Clive Davis pointing out big names like Sean “Diddy” Combs, actor Johnny Depp, singers Joni Mitchell and Sting, also San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. He shared stories with the audience on how he first met some of his noteworthy guest such as Frank Ocean, Wiz Khalifa, Magic Johnson and John Mayer, just to name a few.

In honor of the late great Whitney Houston, Clive played a recorded performance of “All the Man I Need” by Ms. Houston. The evening carried on with live performances from Dutch electronic DJ Afrojack, Patti Smith, R&B singer Miguel, British singer Emeli Sande and hipster folk band The Lumineers.

Miley Cyrus danced away the night in a 2-song ho-down by the Lumineers while prancing around the party with rapper Wiz Khalifa, who are reportedly recording with each other.

Well-known music executive Antonio “L.A.” Reid who signed artists as OutKast, Cee-Lo Green, Pink and Usher was presented with the “Salute to Industry Icons” award. Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds introduced the honoree sharing stories of how the two met. He recalled Mr. Reid wearing spandex and “had one of them hairdos—you know what I’m saying.”

After accepting the award, Usher performed his song “Climax,” Reid told the talented performer, “When I watch you perform like that, I feel complete.”

Both Jennifer Hudson and Gladys Knight performed a wonderful duet of “I Heard It Through the Grapevine.” The legendary Ms. Knight ended the night with a show-stopping performance of , “Neither One of Us” and “Midnight Train to Georgia.”
