French fashion brand Christian Louboutin has launched its new “Tattoos to Measure” bespoke embroidery service for me at the Los Angeles, New York, Paris and London locations. The service was launched this week at West Hollywood’s newly opened Christian Louboutin’s Men’s boutique, where customers can order custom-made Louboutins inspired by their own tattoos.
According to LA Racked, the intimate gathering brought red-soled shoes fans to the boutique’s “Tattoo Parlor” where they could receive a “private, in-house consultation” and “choose the style, fabrication, color and one of three embroidery techniques for the tattoo pattern.” The three different embroidery techniques to choose from are Outline and Shine; Color; and Color and Relief. Once selected, the tattoo images and custom features are sent to Louboutin’s studio in Paris for preparation before the shoes are sent and crafted in Italy and India.
Louboutin has introduce a new men’s style exclusively for the “Tattoos to Measure” service called the “Nigel”, according to LA Racked. The fashion brand will also be made available for women soon, with styles to choose from including “the Rollergirl flat, Louis sneaker, Bell Ankle boot, or Highness pump.”
In a press statement, Christian Louboutin said the inspiration behind the service started as an idea for a present for a friend.
“I made a pair of shoes for him embroidered with his tattoo. A lot of my friends have tattoos; I realized that it’s not only just a part of pop culture but a bit of a map on someone’s body, which says something about people. A part of their life, like an armor or a crest. Instead of carrying someone else’s crest on a loader, I thought it would be a modern armor – your own crest on your own shoe.”
Each custom order can take three months to create from start to finish. Prices for the “tattooed shoes” vary depending on design and other options.
