Chef Michael Shikany, a French Culinary Institute graduate and award winning chef, has twelve years in the fine-dining business serving as a managing director, sommelier, professional chef, and restaurant consultant. Shikany first shared his culinary creations with South Florida via the opening of what are now Miami favorite hot-spots, SushiSamba and Ortanique on the Mile.

So, what is bringing the culinary guru back to Miami’s fine-dining scene? The acclaimed chef is introducing a new creative dining concept and thought Miami’s rising social district, Wynwood, would be the perfect location. Shikany’s thoughts on the area, “I decided to come to Wynwood because it’s an up-and-coming area with a lot going on. It’s urban, kind of like the Village in New York.”

What Shikany describes as a “creative culinary environment”, will serve as a restaurant, event space and cooking school. The unique eatery, which will fittingly be named Shikany, includes a menu comprised of small plates, priced $60-$175. In addition to the daily tapas bar, Thursday-Sunday dinners will range from Lebanese to Italian fare and to the the occasional nights of food-and-microbrew pairings. Chef Shikany promises dishes that reflect global cuisine.
