Aspen Music Festival and School Announces Full Summer Lineup

Classical music-lovers, your long-awaited lineup is here. The Aspen Music Festival and School announced its complete summer schedule, which spans eight weeks and includes more than 320 events from June 27 to Aug. 18. The theme for the 2013 season, “Conscience and Beauty,” will permeate everything from daily concerts in the 2,050-seat Benedict Music Tent to the instruction of more than 600 students who spend their summer in Aspen studying music. The rest of the summer includes orchestral concerts, chamber music, opera, contemporary music, master classes, lectures, and kids’ programs.

Early-season highlights include the opening night performance of Phillip Glass’ Icarus at the Edge of Time by the Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra, June 27; A Baroque Evening with Nicholas McGegan, July 3; David Finckel and Wu Han, July 10; and the Aspen Opera Theater Center’s presentation of Bernstein’s Candide, July 13 & 15.
