Shaw’s is really two restaurants in one. It’s a sophisticated, jazz-infused seafood restaurant and a lively oyster bar, but it also has some of the most fresh and inventive sushi and sashimi combinations in the city. To illustrate how great it is, I have actually seen someone get converted from a sushi hater to a spicy tuna roll lover at this restaurant.

Arami serves up innovative sushi in a “peaceful, natural, garden like atmosphere.” You will find the spicy tuna roll under “spicy maguro” which is tuna, chili oil and scallions. A Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant, this is definitely a place to try.

This Wicker Park sushi joint offers up some inventive and incredibly delicious sushi. Not only can you get great sushi, you can wash it down with any of their numerous sake, wine or cocktail options. And if you are on a bit of a diet, you can even get your spicy tuna roll “skinny” upon request, which is basically less rice. But I say just enjoy the sushi as is, there’s not many calories in it anyway.

Made with spicy chili oil, masago, tempura flake and mayo this spicy tuna roll is one of the most affordable in the city. The lower price doesn’t mean lower quality though, you still get amazing sushi in half or full orders.

This is one of those fun BYOB sushi places in the city. The spicy tuna rolls are great, but so is everything else. It’s so good and the customers love it so much that in the absence of its own website a customer created one out of love for the food.
