Haute 100 Update: Lauren Bush Lauren Fights World Hunger Through New Fashion Collection

After traveling around the world to impoverish countries with the U.N. World Food Program, fashion designer and model Lauren Bush Lauren felt inspired to help those in need. “I saw the heartbreaking reality of hunger and poverty that millions and millions of people live with around the world,” the granddaughter of President George H.W. Bush recently told Rachel Ray. “To wake up every day and not know where your next meal is coming from inspired me to want to do more.”

Lauren began her endeavor five years ago by creating the FEED bag, a messenger bag emblazoned with the number 1 to signify that the sale would feed one child in school for a year. Today, the FEED project includes an entire product line that ranges from custom handmade tote bags to gold trimmed metallic Christmas stockings.

“You’re giving gifts to your family and friends and your loved ones,” Lauren says while discussing the brand’s new “How to Give Gifts Squared” holiday campaign. “But you’re also giving back to feed people around the world! Hunger is solvable.”
