The Smith Center officially kicked off the holiday season in Las Vegas with a free concert on Sunday night in Symphony Park.

Famed Broadway actress and singer Linda Eder, known for her award-winning role in “Jekyll and Hyde,” took to the stage in front of the signature Bavington Statue for the park’s first concert.
Eder looked festive wearing cranberry red Smith Center mittens while singing Broadway favorites and holiday classics including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” Let It Snow” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” The Minnesota native remarked on the great cooler weather during the holidays and the many good times she has had in Las Vegas while guests looked on and enjoyed hot apple cider, frothy hot chocolate and other holiday treats.

Throughout December, The Smith Center will celebrate the holiday spirit with festive décor throughout the campus including a 23-foot traditional Christmas tree draped with 11,500 white lights in Symphony Park making for the perfect holiday photo opportunity.

The Smith Center is offering a festive roster of holiday entertainment in December including  “The Deana Martin Christmas Show” on Dec. 14 and 15 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. featuring the soundtrack of the holiday season including “Silver Bells,” “Winter Wonderland,” “The Christmas Song,” and a newly recorded duet of “White Christmas;” “The Nutcracker,” a brand-new, original production featuring new sets, costumes and surprises by the Nevada Ballet Theatre from Dec. 15 to Dec. 23; and Dave Koz and Friends Christmas Tour 2012 on Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m., featuring Grammy-nominated pianist and composer David Benoit, winner of NBC’s “The Voice” Javier Colon, drummer and vocalist Sheila E. and singer/songwriter Margo Rey.
