High-end shopping destination Bal Harbour Shops broke its own sales record in October and saw overall sales up 14% over last year. Recently ranked the world’s “top-producing shopping center”, by the International Council of Shopping Center’s Shopping Centers Today magazine, Bal Harbour Shops reportedly has sales that are nearly seven times the industry average.

Located in the elite Bal Harbour area of Miami Beach, Bal Harbour Shops is the ultimate in luxury brand shopping. A recent press release noted, “despite the surge in the number of online purchases being made nationwide, record-breaking sales at Bal Harbour Shops prove that customers still appreciate the intimacy and tranquility of their in-person buying experience.”

In October alone, Bal Harbour Shops break their own sales record, “producing $2,638-per-square-foot in sales, up 14 percent from the same period a year ago.” Every year since opening in 1965, Bal Harbour Shops increased revenue, with just two exceptions in 2001 following the 9/11 attacks and 2009 during the recession.

Bal Harbour Shops continues to grow as well, with brands like Tory Burch, Chanel, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana expanding their presence within the shopping center. This month, Yves St. Laurent will open its first “rebranded St. Laurent Paris in the United States at Bal Harbour Shops”. In addition, there are reportedly plans to physically expand Bal Harbour Shops on the nearby land currently occupied by the Church by the Sea to add 200,000-square-feet of retail space.

According to Matthew Whitman Lazenby, operating partner and a third-generation family member involved in Bal Harbour Shops, “At this pace, Bal Harbour Shops is trending to end 2012 with sales at $2,700-per-square-foot. Demand from residents and tourists alike are pushing sales off the charts. Stanley Whitman, my 94-year-old grandfather and the patriarch behind Bal Harbour Shops, has always envisioned great things for this place. Nearly 50 years later, my uncle, managing partner Randy Whitman, and I are privileged to help make that happen.”

Retailers at Bal Harbour Shops include Alexander McQueen, Carolina Herrera, Diana von Furstenberg, Lanvin, Michael Kors, Chanel, 100% Capri, Bottega Veneta, Dolce & Gabbana, Emporio Armani, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Brunello Cucinelli, Oscar de la Renta, Stella McCartney, Tory Burch, Valentino, Trina Turk, Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Brioni, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Cho, Sergio Rossi, Tod’s, Breguet, Audemars Piguet, Chopard, David Yurman, Graff Jewelers, Hublot, Piaget, Tiffany & Co., and more.
