Afternoon Tea Gets a Masculine Makeover

Forget tiny sandwiches with no crusts and dainty desserts for nibbling; London’s Chapters brasserie has given afternoon tea a makeover. The eatery, beloved by those who appreciate simple, well-cooked comfort food (read: men), was recently awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand, a mere four months after opening. No small feat for a local’s delight in Blackheath.

Wondering what exactly a Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea entails at this new hotspot? Well, they’ve swapped out patterned teacups for chilled beer, and warm scones for salt beef on toasted rye. The mouth-watering menu also includes champagne-glazed oysters, venison bresoala, mini beef burgers, warm duck croquants, deep-fried herring melts and warm chocolate brownies. Hungry yet?

It’s important to note that this menu is only served Friday through Sunday, and you must pre-book. But let’s not kid ourselves; there are more than a few ladies out there who are going to love this too – so make your reservations before word gets around.

Chapters is currently taking reservations for January.
