Foodies and Vegas enthusiasts can once again rejoice, as news emerges that the Los Angeles to Las Vegas train, X Train, with Top Chef Masters alum Rick Moonen, is scheduled for completion on New Years Eve 2013.

LAist reports that X Train is designed to carry revelers from Los Angeles to Las Vegas with Moonen lined up to do a culinary program on board. Despite missing the 2011 completion date, reports indicate plans to bring the train to fruition are still underway, albeit delayed. According to LAist, the train will run on “tracks previously laid by Union Pacific” and “the reason for the delay was that Union Pacific didn’t want a train with gambling to be laid on its tracks. But UP has now agreed to move on with the $100 million project.”

The X Train website says that the train will include an Ultra Lounge where passengers can relax with a beverage and snack while watching a sporting event on one of several HD flat screens or use the high-speed internet and Wi-Fi hook ups. There will also be and Entertainment Lounge for (no cash) tournaments for prizes and Vegas Class Service and accommodations with assigned seating for a group, big or small.

X Train President and CEO, Michael Barron, said, “The whole idea s when you get on a train, you feel like you’re in Las Vegas. It’s essentially a nightclub on wheels.”

According to Grub Street, once launched, partygoers can ride the five-hour, 576-passenger train for $99, which includes a meal and one drink.
