James Franco Buys Mad Men Costumer’s House for $775,000

Actor James Franco has purchased the former Silver Lake home of Mad Men costume designer and Emmy-winner Katherine Jane “Janie” Bryant for $775,000.

According to Real Estalker, the fixer-upper home features 1,496 square feet, two bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms. There is also a detached guesthouse with one bedroom and one bathroom on the property. Records indicate that Franco purchased the home back in August and has plans to renovate the “two-unit mini compound”.

Listing information indicates that the home includes tile floors, a dining room with French doors, a sloping backyard and a living room with a beamed ceiling. The kitchen opens up to the living room over a breakfast bar and has butcher-block counter tops, white cabinets and stainless steel appliances.

Franco has spent much of his time in recent years living in New York City, however he has owned other Los Angeles properties in the past as well. In 2003 he reportedly purchased a $1.165 million home in Studio City that he later sold for $1.525 million. He then purchased a $2.325 million Tuscan-style villa that he renovated and put back on the market and sold it for $3.3 million.
