Presented by FOOD & WINE, the 2013 Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival has announced a new event added to the 2013 program to aid those who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Some of the nation’s top chefs will gather at Marlins Park on February 23 to present the Delta Diamond Dishes: A League of The Own to support the hurricane relief efforts of the Food Bank for New York City and the Mayor’s Fund for NYC Hurricane Relief.

Author of Diamond Dishes and wife of Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria, Julie Loria said, “Hurricane Sandy’s devastation unfortunately will be with us for a long time. We hope you will join us in helping those who lost so much.”

The added event will kick off at The Clevelander where Julie Loria will host a cocktail reception and bites from her new cookbook. The walk-around-the-bases dinner will then take place on the field in the Miami Marlins Park with celebrated chefs cooking dishes and Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson selecting wines from the Southern Wine & Spirits of Florida portfolio.

Celebrated chefs participating in the event include, James Beard award winner Michelle Bernstein of Michy’s in Miami, Food & Wine best new chef Stephanie Izard of Girl and the Goat in Chicago, Food & Wine best new chef April Bloomfield of The Spotted Pig in New York and Food & Wine best new chef Naomi Pomeroy of BEATS in Portland. Jeni Britton Bauer of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams will serve dessert in the dugout.

Tickets are available at Sobefest.com.
