It’s difficult to choose a favorite because there are so many great restaurants in Los Angeles. If I had to choose, I would pick Nobu Malibu because I grew up eating there on a weekly basis with my family.
Matsuhisa, Asenebo and Hamasaku are all tied!
Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica is hands down the best Italian in Los Angeles. My favorite things on the menu are the truffle carpaccio, sweet corn ravioli, and panna cotta for dessert.
Sweet Lady Jane has the best desserts in town.
Best place for a romantic date:
Via Veneto in Venice is one of the most charming restaurants in Los Angeles. It is quaint, quiet, has impeccable food and service and a great wine menu.
Best Sunday brunch:
I love going to Shutters on the Beach for Sunday brunch and then walking along the Santa Monica boardwalk afterwards.
Best place for a power business meeting:
Soho House West Hollywood is my go-to business meeting spot.
If you have out of town guests, which hotel would you recommend?
My favorite hotel in Los Angeles has always been and will probably always be the Beverly Hills Hotel – I recommend staying in one of the bungalows.
Favorite shopping venue/boutique:
I love shopping all of the boutiques at the Malibu Country Mart such as Madison, Planet Blue, Intermix, Maxfield, and Ron
Wi Spa in Korea Town is definitely no-frills, but you cannot beat the scrub, steam, and massage combo!
Favorite Charity Event:
The Brent Shapiro Summer Spectacular
Favorite Cultural Event:
Summer Concert Series at the Hollywood Bowl
Favorite Cultural Institution:
Getty Villa in Malibu
Mastro’s steak and sides are hard to beat. My favorite things to order there are the seafood tower, petite filet, and lobster mashed potatoes.
Eating lunch on a warm day on the patio of Il Pastaio in Beverly Hills is one of my favorite things to do.
Best Gym/Athletic Facility:
I have never been a gym person, so I prefer hiking Temescal and Solstice Canyons, as well as practicing yoga.
The spa at the Peninsula Hotel.
Best Limousine/Driving Service:
CLS for a fancy night out and Über for an easy, quick, and reliable daily service.
The most recent exhibition I visited and loved was Herb Ritts at the Getty.
Favorite historic/legendary place to see or explore:
I love to explore Downtown Los Angeles – Chinatown and Olvera Street are always fun to venture around on weekends.
All-around favorite locale in Los Angeles, whether a neighborhood, restaurant, venue, or other
My parent’s backyard in Malibu, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean.
Best aspect of Los Angeles
I love Los Angeles because it is filled with creativity and inspiration, has unbeatable weather, proximity to both sand and snow, and is where most of my immediate and extended family lives, all within 30 minutes of one another.
