Haute 100 NY Update: Newsweek To Cease Print Publication, Barry Diller Ready To “Write It Off”

Newsweek will go out of print at the end of this year, just shy of its 80th birthday. The weekly news magazine currently owned by Barry Diller’s IAC and partnered with Tina Brown’s Daily Beast, had seen its paid circulation plummet by more than 50% from 3.2 million in 2001 to 1.5 million in June of 2012. For decades a conversation-setting staple, the storied title struggled to find its place in the digital marketplace.
