Haute Event: Henry Segerstrom Announces South Coast Plaza’s Whopping $2 Billion in Sales at 45th Anniversary Dinner

A beautiful celebration at the Hotel Bel Air was rendered even more stunning by one major announcement from Henry Segerstrom on Wednesday night.

The 89-year-old entrepreneur and philanthropist revealed that his massive Costa Mesa shopping mall, the South Coast Plaza, has earned over $2 billion since opening in March of 1967.

It was a huge milestone, and the the announcement’s timing couldn’t have been more perfect, given that Segerstrom and his family were celebrating the mall’s 45th anniversary last night.

A select group of 40 guests were on hand to hear the Haute 100-lister thank the fashion industry for its help before they sat down to a dinner prepared by Sonny Sweetman, Executive Chef of Wolfgang Puck at the Hotel Bel Air.

Attendees noshed on salads of heirloom baby beets, Sonoma Duck Breast and Loup de Mer while sipping on California-based wines from Liquid Farms and Porter Creek.

Many cheers were had by all but then, Segerstrom had given the crowd more than enough reason to celebrate.
