A. 2012 DVF AWARDS SPONSORED BY DIANE VON FURSTENBERG AND BARRY DILLER

The United Nations Café was recently transformed from an ordinary space into an extraordinary lounge decked out with pink lights, plush couches and stylish pillows. The occasion? The 2012 DVF awards.

The DVF awards are supported by the Diller – von Furstenberg Family Foundation to honor extraordinary women. Diane von Furstenberg hosted the March 9 event, joined by Diane Sawyer, Mario Bartiromo, Jessica Alba, Tina Brown and Debra Winger, among others.

B. NICOLAS BERGGRUEN QUIETLY BUILDING ART COLLECTION TO DONATE TO LACMA

Nicolas Berggruen is a major art buyer and has built his collection over the past few years with a very noble intention—donating works to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Berggruen worked with LACMA Director Michael Govan to compile a wish list of 12 contemporary artists, including Ed Ruscha and John Baldessari. Although he has not yet given any of the works he has purchased to the museum or signed any pledges, Berggruen’s intentions have not wavered.

 The line contains dresses, blouses, cardigans and skirt suits that exemplify dressing for success.

C. IVANKA TRUMP LAUNCHES CLOTHING LINE

Haute 100 lister Ivanka Trump demonstrates, once again, that she has beauty, brains and a whole lot of talent. The stunning Wharton graduate has already enjoyed much success with her eponymous, high-end jewelry line and her footwear and handbag line. Now, she is adding clothing designer to her dossier.

The multi-talented entrepreneur celebrated the launch of her collection at The Bay, located in Canada. The line contains dresses, blouses, cardigans and skirt suits that exemplify dressing for success. Pieces range from $50 to $225 and are available at select Bay stores across Canada and at ivankatrump.com.

D. WILBUR ROSS APPOINTED TO EXCO BOARD

EXCO Resources, Inc. announced that Haute 100 lister and billionaire private equity investor Wilbur Ross, Jr. has been appointed to its Board of Directors. His position became effective March 2.

EXCO Resources, Inc. is an oil and natural gas exploration, exploitation, development and production company. It is based in Dallas with operations around Texas and northern Louisiana.

E. LAUREN BUSH LAUREN ATTENDS WOMEN IN THE WORLD SUMMIT

International Women’s Day on March 8 marked the commencement of the Women in the World Summit, which continued through March 12. Haute 100 lister and CEO, Creative Director and co-founder of FEED Foundation Lauren Bush Lauren was just one of many influential women who attended the event. The summit, held in New York City, draws top female leaders from around the world, including U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Angelina Jolie and Meryl Streep. This year marked the third anniversary of the event, which is sponsored by Newsweek and The Daily Beast.

Five women were honored at the awards, including Oprah Winfrey, who received a Lifetime Leadership Award. Jaycee Dugard was commended for her JAYC Foundation, which supports the families of abducted children, and Chouchou Namegabe was recognized for her leadership in the Congo. Layli Miller-Muro was honored for creating the Tahirih Justice Center, which helps protect women from human rights violations. Panmela Castro, a Brazilian artist, was the final recipient, chosen for advocating on behalf of female victims of domestic violence.
