The new 134-room Hyatt Place Delray Beach has opened in Palm Beach County, possibly indicating a slight rebound for the Delray Beach area’s tourism industry after a tough recession.

The Hyatt Place Delray Beach is the first new hotel to open in Palm Beach County in nearly three years. Opened last week, the hotel is aiming to attract roughly half of its business from leisure and group travelers, including groups who come to town for festivals, tennis and other local events.

The hotel is located in the Arts District of downtown Delray Beach, within 1 mile of the Gold Coast and beautiful beaches. It is within walking distance to Atlantic Avenue shopping, dining and entertainment districts. With 134 room, the Hyatt Place Delray Beach offers a full service lobby bar, outdoor pool, Jacuzzi and 24-Hour Fitness Center with Life Fitness cardio equipment. There is also complimentary hotel-wide Wi-Fi Internet access, and Intimate Bakery Cafe serving Starbucks specialty coffees, premium beers and wines, and 2nd floor outdoor rooftop pool and hot tub.

According to Jorge Pesquera, president of the Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau, “Hyatt Place is further proof that a hip urban center can support smart hotel projects. You don’t have to be on the beach to succeed.”

Room rates at the new hotel will start at $109 weeknights through September as an opening special, and will likely run around $170 per night in summer and $300 per night in winter, before discounts.

The Hyatt Place Delray Beach is located at 104 NE Second Ave and is owned by private investment firm The Kotler Group of West Palm Beach.
