Museum of Everything’s founder James Brett is bringing the unique show to Moscow’s Gorky Park for the final stop on its journey through Russia.

Brett’s big red truck with the word “everything” written on it has arrived in Moscow and is setting up at its final destination, the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture in Gorky Park. The project began it’s journey through Russia in Yekaterinburg and has since visited Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod and St. Petersburg. The project is looking for unknown, self-taught artists and provides them with the opportunity to display their work.

According to Brett, “Each city has had a different flavor. In Yekaterinburg, the art came mostly from the street, in Kazan the Tartar element was much more obvious, in Nizhny Novgorod we had a lot more older artists and in Petersburg it was underground, urban and political.”

Art will be collected at Garage’s Gorky Park through September 9 and then Brett will announce the dates for his Exhibition No. 5, where the best of the unknown artists will have their work displayed other self-taught Russian artists who have already received some fame, like Alexander Lobanov.

“The number one criteria is that the work they bring is truthful, that it isn’t a copy, that’s personal and about them,” said Brett. “I am extremely interested to see if anyone in Moscow comes with protest art as, particularly now, there is a mood to be heard. I had hoped that so far it would be more political. But if it’s going to be political anywhere it would be here in Moscow.”

Brett has previously held exhibitions similar to that going on in Moscow in Britain’s Tate Modern and Selfridges department store.

The project will be showing at the Garage Center in Gorky Park from August 30 through September 2 and September 6 through September 9.
