Pasadena-native Julia Child was a culinary mastermind and to celebrate what would have been her 100th birthday in August, numerous cities will be offering honorary meals.

Known for her autobiographical story called My Life in France and her series of TV shows on PBS entitled Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Childs inspired many people to experience with worldly cooking and break away from traditional molds.

100 restaurants across the country, with eight in Pasadena, will participate in the event preparing cocktails and dishes created with Child in mind.

According to Pasadena Chamber CEP and President, “In addition to bringing fine French cuisine to American and cooking to television, we know Julia Child appreciated a good glass of wine and a fine cocktail. We want everyone to join us in Pasadena as we raise a glass to toast the 10th anniversary of her birth.”

Guests are encouraged to come dressed in cocktail party clothes from the fifties, sixties and seventies.

The festival will run from August 8-15.

Pasadena restaurants participating include: a/k/a: an American Bistro, Bistro 45, Cheval Blanc Bistro, POP Champagne and Dessert Bar, The Still Room, Maison Akira, the Royce at the Langham, and Vertical Wine Bistro.
