Kelly Clarkson and The Fray joined forces to bring a lively performance to The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas during their summer co-headlining tour on Friday night. After the opening set by Carolina Liar, the season one “American Idol” winner belted out chart-toppers such as “My Life Would Suck Without You,” “Behind These Hazel Eyes” and “Since U Been Gone.” The Grammy-nominated piano rock band then captured the audience with hits like “How to Save a Life,” You Found Me” and “Heartbeat.”
Since bursting onto the music scene 10 years ago, Kelly Clarkson has released five studio albums and sold more than 20 million albums worldwide. She is also the recipient of numerous accolades including 12 Billboard Music Awards, two Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards and many more. Clarkson’s most recent effort, “Stronger,” debuted at #2 on both the Billboard Top 200 and Digital Albums Chart. She is currently working on a sixth studio album after serving as a coach this past season on the hit ABC show, “Duets.”
Denver-based foursome The Fray consist of Isaac Slade (pianist/vocalist), Joe King (guitarist/vocalist), Dave Welsh (guitarist) and Ben Wysocki (drummer). The group achieved success with their first single, “Over My Head (Cable Car)” and their self-titled second album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The Billboard Music Award winners were one of the most licensed bands of 2006 with their music being featured on “Scrubs,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “What About Brian,” “NCIS,” “One Tree Hill” and “Bones.”
Next up as part of the Cosmopolitan’s summer concert series is Bloc Party and Santigold on Saturday, Aug. 11, and Jane’s Addiction on Friday, Sept. 7, both at the Boulevard Pool.
