Alex Rodriguez is taking his time off the field and on the disabled list to consider the big issues in life, specifically tax rates. The Yankees slugger, who broke a bone in his hand last week, has been convalescing on the East End. On Saturday he bumped into Queens politician Malcolm Smith and the two wound up discussing some of the more tedious aspects of state politics.
