The American Cinematheque and LACMA host James Bond Movie Marathon

If 007 is your favorite number, you’re in luck. Starting today, the American Cinematheque begins the 007 at 50: The Complete James Bond Retrospective film series in Los Angeles.

The Egyptian and Aero Theaters will host all 22 Bond films starring everyone from Sean Connery to Roger Moore concluding on June 24th. Tickets are $11.00.

Meanwhile, LACMA will host an exhibition ‘bonding’ all of the franchise films together utilizing Maurice Binder’s iconic opening credit sequence.

Says Elvis Mitchell, curator for Film Independent at LACMA: “The Bond title sequences are a unique and groundbreaking exercise of cinema calculated to resonate as discrete pieces that in no way further the story, but immerse us in the sensibility of 007, filmmaking as daring as the title character.”

Film Independent at LACMA will be screening James Bond double features every Thursday in July and September. … Is James Bond opens this Saturday.

Skyfall, the 23rd installment in the hit series starring Daniel Craig, hits movie theaters this November.
