Conrad Hotel opens Rooftop Bar named for Sol LeWitt Drawing

The temperature in New York hit the high 90s yesterday, so other than inside in the AC, the only place to be was a rooftop. It was the perfect evening for The Conrad to invite VIP guests up to the newly opened rooftop bar in Battery Park. Named for the gigantic Sol LeWit painting that takes over the hotel lobby, Loopy Doopy boasts views of the Statue of Liberty, the Hudson River and the lower Manhattan skyline.

The roof is nice, but the art inside The Conrad is a collector’s dream with pieces from Mary Heilmann, Elizabeth Peyton, Pat Steir and Sara Sosnowy. This luxury property is a big step for the Hilton brand that is expanding its reach to the high-end clientele in town to do business in lower Manhattan.

No luxury property is complete with out its own celebrity chef, so Anthony Zamora was brought in because of his five star experiences at the Four Seasons New York and The Biltmore in Miami. He brings his contemporary culinary concept he has introduced at Atrio to the rooftop, offering hearty flatbreads, roasted seasonal vegetables, meatballs, salads, artisanal cheeses and cured meats.

So what’s the signature drink? We’d say it’s the Boozy Popsicles, a fruit puree treat infused with sweet alcohol, all served in a large class of Prosecco, which is conveniently on tap.
