34th Moscow International Film Festival

The 34th Moscow International Film Festival is being held in the Russian capital and will run in several of the city’s cinemas through June 30.

Opening night featured the premiere of Duhless, directed by Roman Prygunov and the main competition program will include 17 movies from around the world.

The jury at the festival is made up of industry professionals including Brazilian director Hector Babenco, director Sergey Loban, producer Adriana Chiesa De Palma, Bulgarian director Javor Gardev and French-American actor and director Jean-Marc Barr.

In addition to the main prize and foreign film awards, the Moscow International Film Festival features a Perspective competition that features 13 pieces by young filmmakers.

Russian films up for the main prize include Rita’s Last Fairy Tale and Gulf Stream Under the Iceberg. Foreign films in the main program include 80 Millions, Growing in the Wind, Magnificent Presence, Lonely Island, Naked Harbour, A Cherry on a Pomegranate Tree and more.

The event will close with a showing of Beloved by Christophe Honore.
