20th Andrey Sakharov International Art Festival

More than 300 musicians from Russia, France, Lithuania, Italy, Israel and the Netherlands will head to the city of Nizhny Novgorod in the Volga region of Russia for the 20th Andrey Sakharov International Art Festival.

Lasting ten days, the festival, which was named after nuclear physicist, dissident and human rights activist Andrei Sakharov, was opened by Yury Bashmet who led the Moscow Soloist Chamber Orchestra. Actor Konstantin Khabensky joined the ensemble and recited epigrams written by a French composer in between the Camille Saint-Saens’ suite.

The concert concluded with Khabensky and Bashmet playing a piano piece for the audience.
