10th Muz TV Awards Held in Moscow

On June 1 the 10th edition of the Muz TV awards was held at the Moscow Olimpiisky Sports Center where Dima Bilan was awarded as the best male singer for the fifth time over the past six years and pop/hip-hop singer Yolka won for best female singer.

Beating out Grigory Leps, Sergei Lazarev, Filipp Kirkorov and Dan Balan, five-time Muz TV award-winning artist won for best male singer at the 10th Muz TV awards last week. In addition to Yokla winning for best female singer, the band Gradusy won for best album, Ivan Barskikh won for breakthrough artist and Zvveri won for best rock band. Two special prizes for the decade’s best female and male singer were awarded to Zemfira and Kirkorov.

Hosted by Russian television channel Muz TV, the ceremony was supposed to include an appearance by Lady Gaga, however, according to reports a promoter hired by Muz TV failed to bring the singer to Moscow. This was the first time in several years that no top Western artist showed. Former Western artists to make an appearance at the awards included Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry, 50 Cent and Jennifer Lopez.
