On June 1st, Haight Ashbury Free Clinics – Walden House will be hosting an elegant event in one of the most beautiful places in San Francisco, The Westin St. Francis. The gala is the first annual “Black Tie and Tie Dye,” that focuses on the 1960s cultural revolution where many adolescents and young adults came to San Francisco.
In 1967, Haight Ashbury Free Clinics opened as the first free medical clinic in the entire country. It wasn’t very long until the news of the free medical clinic circulated. Within the first week, more than 400 patients were treated there, leading up to the unveiling of the Walden House; an organization to impact adolescent issues such as homelessness and drug abuse.
On July 1, 2011, the organizations joined forces to help out the community, by offering primary medical care, mental health services, substance abuse treatment and integrated healthcare. For more information on the first annual “Black Tie and Tie Dye,” visit the website: www.hafc-wh.org/gala
